You don’t have to travel to remote countries in order to experience something extraordinary. A special bike tour through the countryside near Waginger See will take you to some of the hidden jewels of this place we are so proud to call home, certain to leave you with lasting memories. Every Thursday starting in May, health trainer Yvonne Liebl invites you to join her on a guided tour through the Waginger See region. We hope we will whet your appetite, too, for an excursion amid the landscapes of Upper Bavaria, punctuated by culinary highlights along the way.

This laid-back bicycle tour through the Waginger See - Rupertiwinkel model eco-region begins in Fridolfing at Steinbergers Naschmarkt. Lined up next to Yvonne Liebl, participants set out on a journey of around 30 km to discover insider tips, delectable distractions and scenic lookout points. The first stop is the farm-direct shop run by Sebastian Obermayer. There, you will be able to sample sausage, bacon and ham specialties, bread spreads as well as the very finest cuts of beef and lamb.

Keeping to the flat road, with the panorama of the Berchtesgaden Alps constantly before your eyes, a second highlight is not far away: a visit to Attl´s organic goat dairy farm in Muttering, home to around 100 goats. The healthy goat milk is transformed into a variety of delicious cream- and cottage cheeses as well as yogurt. Our next stop takes us to the fields of Michael Steinmassl, nicknamed locally “Gmias-Michi”, in Watzing, which is part of Kirchanschöring. Here, this farmer grows around 40 different types of vegetable organically and is always more than happy to explain to cyclists what makes his products so special. At Michi’s organic farm shop, you will be able to learn even more about the wide selection of regional products and even sample some of his fresh juices.
