The town of Tittmoning lies on the border with Austria and right on the River Salzach. In the 23 rooms of this fortification that are open to the general public, we discover the Rupertiwinkel Museum with its important collections of folk art and craftsmanship, as we do the Tannery Museum. During historic Castle Days in September, the entire grounds come alive with bustling medieval life.
Yet another highlight in Tittmoning is the prize-winning town square, which features typical Inn-Salzach architecture as well as a townhall with a magnificent façade. Just a little removed from the town center, romantic streams and rivers, as well as the riparian landscapes that accompany the River Salzach highlight the proximity of nature. There, you will also come across healing springs as well as old salt barges that will be happy to take you on a sightseeing expedition out on the water.
