Rupertiwinkel Farm Museumfarming like back in the olden days

The development of agriculture has been driven by technological achievements and automization. That said, even just a few decades ago, life on the farm looked much different. Just how different, you will find out at the Rupertiwinkel Farm Museum close to Kirchanschöring. With the help of old tractors, agricultural equipment and countless impressions, this museum brings the world of the farmer of the past back to life.

At the Weiler Hof just outside Kirchanschöring, the farmer “z´Hof” has built a Farm Museum, all the while running his own farm. It began back in 1981 when the old Schmidhof was brought here, with the exhibition growing steadily ever since. Today, it comprises a granary, a so-called Brechlbad for drying out flax, a furnace and the Museumsstadel with a wide selection of antique equipment once used by farmers and artisans (including 50 tractors). The Museumsstadel, incidentally, also offers a scientific exhibition that takes you through the entire grain cycle, from planting to threshing. 

A demonstration of traditional threshing methods takes place every year at the end of August. This also involves “cranking up” the pride and joy of the museum, an antique steam-powered threshing machine. At special events, old handicraft and working techniques are demonstrated to the public. For groups that register to visit the museum in advance, there is also an opportunity to arrange for traditional snacks including farmhouse-style donuts and delicious open-face bacon sandwiches.
